Active Home Week

Active Home Week Challenge
As you may know the staff and pupils of our school have been working extremely hard this year to achieve the Active School Flag. We have undertaken many new initiatives like

  • The Daily Mile Challenge
  • The Active Break Challenge
  • Yard stencils which promote physical activity
  • Playground Leaders who promote physical activity
  • Free Dance Friday
  • A walkway in which the pupils are encouraged to walk and talk and break time (Coming soon)

We had originally planned to complete our active week from Monday the 27th of April until Friday the first of May. As we are not in a position to complete this, the Active School Committee has encouraged schools to promote an Active Home Week. To complete the challenge, children have to find four different ways of being active every day, making sure that this adds up to 60 minutes, or more, of physical activity. All members of the family are encouraged, to take on the challenge.  We at St. Furseys would like to encourage all pupils to take part in this challenge if it is suitable for them.
The Active Home Challenge is:
  • For everyone
  • Fun
  • Not compulsory
  • Solely aimed at promoting health and well being.
  • Can be completed under current Government guidelines
If you complete the challenge please return your challenge chart (Attached below) to bodonoghue@stfurseys.com as all these charts will be considered when it becomes time to decide if we receive the Active School Flag. Please find attached the Active Home Week challenge charts and some ideas which may help you in your challenge.
