We are a Green School

The Green Flag Schools Project

The initiative for this project was undertaken by Ms. Vallely. A Green Flag committee has been set up in the school and meetings take place at least once every fortnight. As a result of this project our school is a far cleaner and more appealing environment to work in. The Green School Committee is now led by Ms. Aisling Sloane and Ms. Emily Callan.

Here are some of the projects that the Green Flag Committee along with the different classes have undertaken:

  • Tidy Classroom Competition
  • Litter Patrols
  • Composting Project
  • Planting flowers in our school flowerbeds and flower pots
  • Lunchbox Survey
  • Recycling Paper Waste
  • Recycling Plastic Bottles
  • Recycling Juice Cartons.
  • Litter Awareness Poster Competition
  • Painting Murals on walls outside School Office
  • Rubbish Free Wednesday

Our school code is now:
IT'S COOL TO BE SEEN BEING GREEN

We now also have our SECOND GREEN FLAG.
This flag was erected at our school by GAA all star Paddy Keenan. We had a great GREEN party at school to celebrate the wonderful achievement.

To get this flag the children in the school had to do lots of work on saving energy within the school. The children in Ms. Vallely's classroom undertook lots of projects on alternative renewable forms of energy. A poster competition was carried out in the school where the children had to promote energy efficiency.

WELL DONE EVERYBODY!
