Vision & Mission Statement
Fáilte go dtí Scoil Fhursa. Scoil Fhursa was once a small rural school, deeply embedded in the fabric and landscape of Haggardstown, a place where everyone knew your name! Despite the large scale development in our community we strive to hold onto the “rural mindset” and ensure that our school remains a place that seeks to care for and address the unique needs of each child, parent and teacher. Our vision is to be a school that still strives to know each child by their name. We aspire to promote the holistic development of all children in our care, and enable them to reach their full potential as a unique individual in the evolving modern world.
Scoil Fhursa has a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere. We welcome all pupils that cross our threshold on a daily basis. We believe that a child will flourish in a place where they are happy and feel valued. We seek to nurture each pupil in all facets of their life - spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical.
Scoil Fhursa continues to play an integral role in the parish of Haggardstown & Blackrock. We encourage our pupils to have respect for diversity, be environmentally aware and develop an appreciation and love of our special close knit parish community. In partnership with parents and the Church, we aim to nurture the Catholic faith through religious education, preparation for the sacraments and through our school ethos. In the words of Pope Francis “the mission of schools is to develop a sense of truth of what is good and beautiful”. While promoting this Catholic Ethos we acknowledge the importance of providing a welcoming place, that is respectful and accommodating of diversity in race, culture, religion, gender and ability.
At Scoil Fhursa we recognise that parents are their children’s primary educators. Therefore we strive to empower and encourage parents to be actively involved in their child’s education and in the life of our school. We strive to maintain positive home-school links and encourage active involvement in the development and growth of the Parents’ Association.
We are proud to be an inclusive school that promotes equal opportunity for all. We endorse and promote the aims and principles of the 1999 Revised Curriculum which emphasises the importance of celebrating the uniqueness of each child. We are committed to providing support for pupils with special educational needs. We work together as a team to challenge, inspire and motivate all children to become successful, confident and caring citizens in our evolving modern, multicultural and digitally literate society.
